The Innovation Hub in Johannesburg, South Africa, in collaboration with the City of Tshwane, has today launched the Innovation Festival, a week-long series of events and demonstrations to coincide with Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014.

The Innovation Festival is designed to provide an opportunity for visitors to experience how Gauteng is enabling technologies which are positively impacting industry and other aspects of life, providing a platform for innovative technologies and programmes to come together.

“Innovation, essential networking, entrepreneurship, arts and culture, science, technology, good food and hookups are in integral part of this inventive new festival,” The Innovation Hub said.

“We want to engage with forward thinking, innovative communities and expose them to the incredible technology and programmes that are being developed on African soil. From smart industries to bio economy and green technology.”

The organisers were keen to stress that the free event is “not a conference”.

“It’s an open, interactive week of hands-on demonstrations, exhibitions, technology showcases and pop-up presentations. The Innovation Festival will provide a unique experience for entrepreneurs, industry, innovators, researchers, public sector, youth and geeks.”
