Nigerian startup SceneFlix has launched Android and iOS apps, with the aim of becoming Africa’s leading mobile cinema portal.

The SceneFlix apps provide information on cinema locations and schedules – navigating users to the nearest cinema via GPS -, as well as enabling users to watch film trailers on their mobile device. Users can also rate and review both films and cinemas.

“The idea is borne out of the desire to deliver top-of-the-range entertainment to movie lovers at exceptional and unrivalled speed,” said co-founder and creative director of SceneFlix, Adenola Olateru-Olagbegi.

“The SceneFlix app is free and user friendly, showcasing landmarked cinemas and movie theaters based on updated listings on the go. The app enables its users to utilize their power of choice with movie-theater locations and real-time up to date movie showtimes within the geographic region.”

The apps currently work in Nigeria and Ghana, with the startup saying it is in the process of uploading details for many more cinemas across Africa.

SceneFlix can be downloaded for free from the App and Google Play stores.
