Non-profit Lagos-based incubator iDEA has launched the Fostering and Accelerating Startups in Tech (FAST) entrepreneurship programme, which involves carefully selected courses and a focus on startup needs.

FAST is a 120-hour capacity development plan, which includes courses focused on, among other things, concept development, business models, feasibility and risk assessment, customer service, basic bookkeeping, and networking skills.

“Each class has been designed to leave participants with practical toolkits that can be applied to real problems,” iDEA said.

“At the end of the programme, entrepreneurs should be more rounded, better informed and adequately equipped to employ IT as a catalyst for product and market Innovation.”

The Information Technology Developers Entrepreneurship Accelerator (iDEA) was launched in April 2013 in order to assist Nigerian entrepreneurs and accelerate the development of the tech industry in Nigeria.

“iDEA will help entrepreneurs build software skills, solutions and businesses critical to their success thereby creating wealth and employment opportunities,” the organisation said.

FAST welcomes applications from startups at the prototype phase of business development, on the verge of market launch. Startups, SMEs and non-members of iDEA at any level of development are free to apply.

  1. Great initiative by iDEA as it launches Fostering and Accelerating Startups in Tech (FAST) entrepreneurship programme. This programme will truly develop entrepreneurship in the country. For this reason, African entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist Tony O. Elumelu CON has launched the $100m Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) that will empower aspiring African startups and entrepreneurs. TEEP will support 10,000 African entrepreneurs over the next decade, providing them with training, mentoring, networking opportunities and much needed seed capital funding. TEEP is calling on all aspiring African entrepreneurs aged 18 or over with transformative ideas to apply and take part in this ground breaking initiative.
