Daddy’s World launches Cape Town entrepreneurship support programme

Cape Town-based Daddy’s World is to pilot a free support programme for entrepreneurs from previously disadvantaged communities, offering participants a set of services and processes that allow the company to share its expertise.

Daddy’s World is behind the Daddy.O co-working space and the Daddy’s Dragons business academy in Cape Town, as well as the Daddy Long Legs Art Hotel, Old Mac Daddy, Daddy’s Deals, The Old Biscuit Mill and The Woodstock Exchange.

Through this latest endeavour, the company will provide physical office space and share its expertise in a “meaningful, structured approach”, leveraging its proven track record, utilising its networks to provide suitable mentorship and connecting participants to markets and potential funding.

“Business is our passion, as a group, we have taken lots of risks, tried some crazy new things and learnt some important lessons; the most important one being that entrepreneurs need a network of support,” said Daddy’s World co-founder Jody Aufrichtig.

“With Daddy.O and Daddy’s Dragons, we are not only providing a physical space to work in, we are also creating a place to bounce ideas, develop good business relationships and tap into the Daddy knowledge-base. We want to build success – to fuel new businesses, create jobs and change our environment. We are very excited about sharing our advice and sharpening the talents of some brave new business leaders.”

Entrepreneurs and startups taking part in the programme will benefit from learning from Daddy’s World’s proven success system, with the company saying it will guide them in identifying and fulfilling a real need in the marketplace and teach them to clearly demonstrate the value of their offering.

The programme is based on full membership of the Daddy.O co-working space, as well as participation in the Crash Course Business Workshop, which will help the entrepreneurs research, prepare and ultimately present a feasible and viable business plan.

Startups will also participate in the Monthly Boardroom Club, a peer meetup that helps develop accountability and maintain momentum, and be offered opportunities to develop as a supplier to Daddy’s World.

Interested parties should contact Daddy.O or Daddy’s Dragons via their respective websites, email or telephonically. Applicants must submit a three-part application, with a short letter explaining why they are interested in the programme and what they hope to get out of it, a one-page business plan, and a completed online business status questionnaire.
