Cameroon’s Silicon Mountain Community has announced the first Silicon Mountain Conference will take place on June 20, with attendees mainly comprising individuals that directly influence the tech startup community.

The event to be held at Eta Palace Hotel in Buea from 5pm until 8pm, with the Silicon Mountain Community saying the region is at the heart of technology and innovation in Cameroon.

Startups, entrepreneurs, representatives from local universities and other IT vocational training institutions, tech incubators and co-working spaces, and key partners and customers that use and trust products built by local startups are expected to attend.

The aim of the conference is to get the whole community on the same page, defining the journey ahead, while also celebrating the community’s success in 2014’s objective of building a ‘Community that Codes’. The theme of the conference is ‘Let’s Build Products’.

“This is taking steps further from improving code quality, to putting the codes together and produce high quality products. We believe that in our efforts to transform our community form a startup techo-system to a high quality startup techo-system, we have to set clear short term goals and experiment on them like we will do with our startups,” the Silicon Mountain Community said.

The conference will be divided into 3 main parts: keynote speeches, presentation of projects in the community focused on improving product development skills, and a question and answer session.
