Sony Corporation has partnered business matchmaking service Matchi to launch the Sony Fintech Innovation Challenge, offering startups the chance to win a proof of concept (PoC) project with the multinational conglomerate.

Applications for the challenge are open until February 17, with Sony calling for responses from the global fintech community in any of six categories.

These are Web Bank Interaction for High Net Worth Individuals, Financial Services for Travelers, Entertainment x Blockchain, Education/Financial Management Services for the Youth Market, Client Engagement for the underbanked /underinvested, and Super Smart Authentication.

Prospective entrants must submit an overview of their innovation, and motivate why it should be selected for a PoC project within Sony Corporation.

Entries will be scored against set criteria, including innovativeness, ease of implementation, and potential impact, with the highest ranking innovation in each of the six themes to be given the opportunity to present their solution to a judging panel from Sony on March 17.

From there, at least one innovation will be announced as the ultimate winner, continuing through to the PoC project phase within Sony.
