Nigerian talent accelerator startup ProJaro has opened applications for the second cohort of its software engineering training programme.

Launched in mid-2015, ProJaro is a startup focusing on training, recruiting and empowering world-class African software engineers. The startup’s main aim is to increase the opportunity for businesses to meet the right talent for required jobs, and to help create a pool of tech talent.

The year-long ProJaro Fellowship Programme is split into three phases. For the first three months fellows focus on learning software development and technical leadership. During the second three months fellows work on real projects, and develop projects of their choice to hone their skills. In the last six months, fellows will start getting paid while working on clients’ projects remotely, full time or on contractual basis.

“We are looking for young people who are ready to devote one year to learning and making a career in software development,” says Dimgba Kalu, of ProJaro.

Those interested in participating in the programme will be asked to take an online test during the initial application. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete further online tests. Selected applicants will then be invited to participate in a one-week bootcamp, where the final cohort will be chosen.

The programme takes place in Abuja; and applications are open until May 20.
