Seedstars announces 10 startups to pitch in Dar es Salaam

Global early-stage startups competition Seedstars World has announced the 10 startups that will pitch at its event in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on September 24, with the winner destined to represent Tanzania at the global event in Switzerland.

Seedstars World has already chosen winners in Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali and Ethiopia, with startups from all over the world to compete for up to US$1 million in equity investment at the final next year.

The Tanzanian event will take place at Buni Hub, with the startups to pitch in front of a panel of judges. The local leg of the is carried out with the support of partners the Swiss Embassy and TANZICT.

The 10 startups selected to participate at the event include subscription management software Bahari Technologies, hospital management system PHS, mobile billing system Mitikaz, youth information platform Planbook, anti-counterfeiting startup Scancode, agri-tech startup MCA Technologies.

Also selected are recycling startup EcoAct Tanzania, online trading platform A-Trader, agricultural information platform Kilimo Info and mobile micro-health insurance product Jamii.

“Winning a competition alone has never been a guarantee to success. But participating is most rewarding due to the exposure and attention which every business needs. I believe that the new generation of young entrepreneurs will shape Tanzania’s business landscape in a significant way, watch out!” said Arthur Mattli, Ambassador of Switzerland to the East African Community.
