Global early-stage startups competition Seedstars World has announced the 12 startups that will pitch at its Mozambique event tomorrow (Wednesday, June 14), with the winner set to represent the country and pitch for US$500,000 equity investment at the global final in Switzerland next year.

Seedstars World has partnered Standard Bank and local ambassador UX Information Technologies to run the Maputo event, which is one of a host of local competitions it is hosting across Africa.

The 12 startups selected to participate include comparison and reviews platform Supevy, e-commerce platform for luxury international products buycomz, crime reduction mobile platform CrimeDown, event management service Dream Solutions Enterprise, e-learning startup Fakul and on-demand textiles service Karingana Wa Karingana Textiles.

Tourism platform Kharin, ed-tech startup Olenvo, eco-friendly carwash app Publiaki, ed-tech platform Side, mobile insurance service MovelCare and another education service – Tech4Kids Academy – complete the list.

“We see clearly that the quality of entrepreneurs improves every year and that the ecosystem is growing due to so many committed partners. In addition, we are really seeing the ecosystem come together and more collaboration between the ecosystem players. We cannot wait to come back,” Claudia Makadristo, regional manager for Africa at Seedstars World, said of Mozambique.
