The US$100 million Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) has opened to applications from interested African entrepreneurs, with prospective applicants having until March 1 to put themselves forward.
Disrupt Africa reported last month on the launch of the programme, which aims to create 10,000 businesses, provide one million new jobs and contribute at least US$10 billion per year to the continent’s economy.
“We are looking forward to receiving the exciting ideas our African Entrepreneurs have to transform Africa!” the Tony Elumelu Foundation said.
“The opportunity and challenge in Africa is scale – in our people, our resources and our horizons,” said Tony Elumelu at the launch of the programme.
“In my business and philanthropic journeys, I have always sought ways to help inspire a generation across our continent. This programme brings together my own entrepreneurial experience and my fundamental belief that entrepreneurs – women and men across Africa – will lead Africa’s development and transform our futures.”
Applications can be submitted online, and are accepted in English, French or Portuguese. 1,000 startups will be selected, with the successful applicants to participate in a comprehensive training programme, which is designed to prepare the entrepreneurs to build successful businesses capable of adding value.
