Konga CEO among speakers at eCommerce Africa Conference

The founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Nigerian e-commerce giant Konga.com Sim Shagaya was among the speakers at last week’s eCommerce Africa Conference, which brought together sector stakeholders to share ideas and strategies.

The conference took place in Cape Town, South Africa, and also featured the likes of Paul Galatis of Yuppiechef, Jaco Jonker from bidorbuy.co.za, Efi Dahan of PayPal, and Luke McKend from Google South Africa.

Speakers offered their takes on successfully utilising current technologies to engage in the online space and how to further improve and deliver on e-commerce expectations and strategies.

“The eCommerce Africa Conference and Exhibition was more than just another ecommerce event, it was designed with those entrenched in e-commerce in mind,” organiser Kinetic said.

“Last week, leaders in the industry were met with a tailor-made agenda that was both current and topical. The anticipated event brought together senior-level ecommerce and marketing professionals from all major industries, sharing their ideas, strategies and visions of the e-commerce space.”

One key discussion at the inaugural event was what the future landscape of e-commerce will look like and whether smaller players can survive and thrive taking into account the impact of POPI compliance and data collection on the ecommerce landscape.

“The creation of this world-class e-commerce conference in South Africa was aimed to educate, inform and inspire entrepreneurs, businesses and investors. Providing a space to embrace and navigate the e-commerce landscape leading to a better understanding of what it means to truly deliver exceptional experiences within it. We are confident that we successfully delivered on this and look forward to the next event in 2016,” said Shannon Mackrill, joint managing director of Kinetic.
