Team Nnamdi emerged the winner from the first edition of the TotalWennovation Hack, taking home US$1,000 from the two-day event.

Disrupt Africa reported in November Total Nigeria and Wennovation Hub partnered to launch a hackathon to solve defined Total problem statements, offering the winner cash and potential adoption of their solution.

Team Nnamdi – led by Nnamdi Christopher Iroaganachi – won the US$1,000 top prize with a total of 356.7 points, with the runners-up taking home US$500, US$250 and US$250 respectively. Total Nigeria and Wennovation Hub will make the decision to award further development grants if they are found capable after further review.

“The hackathon attracted developers and innovators from across the country. It witnessed computer programmers and others involved in software development, collaborate intensively to build software solutions to defined problem statements by Total Nigeria,” the partners said.

The event was the pilot phase of a long-term project to create innovation, impact and service, with Total Nigeria and Wennovation Hub hoping to harness innovative technological solutions to pre-defined problem statements, with the purpose of creating a sustainable platform for innovative growth as well as improving business productivity and profitability.

“This collaboration clearly depicts Total Nigeria’s dedication to continuous improvement, an identity that sets it apart in the global energy industry,” Total Nigeria said.

“It reflects our determination to invest in economic development and establish long-term roots. Our ambition is not borne out of purely economic reasons but out of our passion to make sustainable and positive impact on the lives of people in Nigeria.”
