Startups with at least 50 per cent of their code written in Nairobi have been invited to list on Made In Nairobi, an online platform created to promote local startups.

Made In Nairobi is the brainchild of Florence Wanjugu, an intern at the iHub UX Lab and formerly of the NairoBits Digital Design School and the Akirachix training school.

The site aims to provide a comprehensive listing of Nairobi tech companies on one platform, and has so far listed 36 startups.

“My aim was to showcase how many tech Companies are based and run in Nairobi (Discover Nairobi Digital side ) to stimulate learning, engagement and collaboration in the community,” Wanjugu told Disrupt Africa. Startups wishing to list can create an account and create a new listing.

A similar initiative has been established in South Africa, where Founded in SA lists startups from the country. The site was inspired by Founded in Holland and is part of the global Founded X community.
