The Inclusive Business (IB) Accelerator is encouraging entrepreneurs from Africa to apply for an online bootcamp on pitching to investors.

Disrupt Africa reported in January on the launch of the IB Accelerator, formed through a partnership between the BoP Innovation Center, international development organisation SNV, Venture Capital for Africa (VC4Africa) and Nyenrode Business School.

It has now organising an online bootcamp on how to pitch to investors, with registration open until July 12. The bootcamp will be lead by David Beckett, an experienced pitch coach who has supported over 130 startups in pitching to investors and helped them raise over US$40 million in investment.

Participants will have access to training videos, background readings and exercises on the online platform, and use the Pitch Canvas tool, which helps entrepreneurs visualise their whole pitch on a single page. The three best pitches will be selected to receive a personal online coaching session with David Beckett worth US$550.

The IB Accelerator said pitching was an essential skill for entrepreneurs.

“You need to have a solid pitch to convince partners, clients and most importantly, investors. How do you build your story? How do you explain your business ideas? And how do you convince investors that there is a market opportunity and that you and your team can make an impact and change the world?” it said.

The bootcamp is targeting entrepreneurs with an existing business, and begins on July 13.
