Entrepreneurs with ideas in the areas of green economy, education, health, smart cities and better living have been invited to apply to the Startup Weekend event in Cape Town, which will take place at the Barn in Khayelitsha on September 11-13.

The event will bring together a diverse group of people passionate about making a positive impact, with participants sharing ideas, forming teams, designing products and launching startups over the course of the weekend.

Startup Weekend Cape Town will begin with open-mic 60-second pitches on Friday night, which will then result in the formation of small teams around the most viable concepts. Teams spend Saturday and Sunday focusing on user research, customer development, idea validation and prototype building, before demonstrating their products and receiving judge feedback.

“Startup Weekend Cape Town is the perfect opportunity to transform your ideas into action in less than 60 hours,” the Bandwidth Barn said.

“Find the right people with complementary skills & the passion & dedication to build a viable product in one weekend. Design for learning, conduct user tests, receive coaching from experienced designers and industry professionals and win prizes that will help take your idea to the next level.”
