Village Capital has partnered makers organisation Creativity Group to hold its second African hardware accelerator programme in Accra, Ghana, which will see two startups awarded US$50,000 each.

Disrupt Africa reported in August Village Capital and Gearbox, along with partners the Lemelson Foundation, the DOEN Foundation, SGII, and VC4Africa, had announced their first hardware focused accelerator programme, to be held in Nairobi, Kenya. 10 startups have since been selected to join the programme.

Village Capital has now partnered Ghanaian hackers and makers organisation Creativity Group to launch a second hardware accelerator programme in Accra, providing cutting-edge training for 10 early stage hardware inventors.

The programme – which is taking place currently – brings together entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and stakeholders side-by-side, to discuss and find solutions to challenges faced by under-served communities in Africa.

Two startups will be selected by their peers to secure US$50,000 each at the end of the accelerator. Village Capital recently explained to Disrupt Africa why peer-selection is the best model for investing.
