Applications open for MasterCard virtual accelerator

Applications are open for the MasterCard Start Path virtual accelerator programme, with startups from the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region encouraged to apply as MasterCard looks to strengthen its support of the region’s startups.

Launched in 2014, Start Path provides startups with operational support, mentorship, and investment, to develop the next generation of commerce solutions.

MasterCard said the programme has been particularly successful in the MEA region, as such the company is “intensifying” its efforts to partner local startups.

“Startups are actively experimenting with new solutions aimed at transforming the status-quo across a wide variety of industries including financial services, retail, and healthcare” said Stephane Wyper, global lead of MasterCard Start Path.

“We can provide critical support through operational expertise and access to a steady pipeline of customers, channels and partners. In just two years, Start Path Global has a strong record of helping startups transform innovations into sustainable business propositions.”

Applications for the six-month virtual programme are currently open, here, until March 21.

20 startups will be invited to participate in a live pitching session in Canada in May, whereafter eight startups will be selected to join the programme, which kicks off in June.
