Seedstars World, which has already picked winning startups in Egypt, Tunisia and South Africa, will hold its Maputo event on Friday, July 15.

The winning startup will have the opportunity to pitch for up to US$1 million in funding at the global final in Switzerland, and network with investors and mentors from around the world.

The 10 startups that will take part are online brands marketplace Compra, intelligent shopping tool Kharin, streaming service BlackBOX TV, mobile payments platform MolaPay, social media platform +J, music streaming platform Mozik, taxi app Ola Taxi, online supermarket IZYSHOP, water supply startup Vamobi Net, and bus locator service Kwine

The Mozambican competition is carried out with the support of Standard Bank and local ambassador UX Information Technologies.

“After reviewing all the startups that applied to SeedStars Maputo 2016, we feel very confident that this will be another successful event, one which will showcase Mozambique’s potential as an exporter of technology. Competition will be fierce this year, and we hope that the winner will represent our country proudly in the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland,” said Tiago Coelho, co-founder at UX Information Technologies.

“We are very excited to be back in Mozambique in 2016 looking forward to witnessing the exceptional talent that Mozambique has and showcasing it on the global stage,” says Claudia Makadristo, associate for Seedstars World Africa.
