South African startups Domestly and FitKey are among the finalists standing to win at the MTN Business App of the Year Awards tomorrow (August 4).

The annual awards, which were first held in 2012, look to recognise excellence in mobile applications from South African companies of all shapes and sizes.  The awards feature six categories, as well as a People’s Choice prize.

This year, a number of local startups have been listed as finalists across the award categories; with find-a-cleaner app Domestly the only company to be named a finalist for three different awards.

Domestly could stand to win the Best Consumer App, Best Breakthrough Developer App, and Most Innovative awards.

Fellow startup, fitness class finding app FitKey, also goes head-to-head against the corporate solutions listed in the Best Consumer App category; standing against the likes of Pick n Pay and Showmax for the award.

Six nominees are listed for the Best Breakthrough Developer App category, comprising mostly startups.
