Founder Institute accelerator launches Morocco chapter

Global idea-stage accelerator the Founder Institute has launched a Morocco chapter, inviting applications from entrepreneurs interested in launching tech startups.

The Silicon Valley-based Founder Institute has chapters across 60 countries and 135 cities, and is launching fully in Rabat, Morocco after a successful test launch earlier in the year attracted almost 300 applicants.

The accelerator’s step-by-step programme will provide entrepreneurs with the structure, mentor support and global network to start an enduring company. The Founder Institute accepts founders with day jobs and shares equity with all participants.

Applications to the first Morocco programme are open now until October 23, with the Founder Institute also set to host a series of free startup events for the general public.

.Startups that got off the ground via a Founder Institute programme include Udemy, Realty Mogul, iCarsClub, Itembase,goplaceit, and Appota, with local startup leaders selected to run the Moroccan chapter including Amine Rachdi of Realtime Type Approvals, Chafik Sabiry of ARCSY and Naoufal Chama of Digimind Morocco.

Mentors signed up to assist with the programme include Abdessamad Bouzoubaa of Orange Group, Brahim El Jai of MarocInvest, Fouad Jellal of Hewlett-Packard, Karim Bernoussi of Intelcia, and Zouheir Lakhdissi of Dial Technologies.

Anyone who enrolls by the early application deadline of October 9 is also eligible for a variety of fellowships, including the Female Founder Fellowship, offered to the best overall female applicant.
