MTN Business has launched its first annual Digital Entrepreneur Masterclass, which will give entrepreneurs in-depth insights into running smart digital businesses.

The first Digital Entrepreneur Masterclass will be held in Johannesburg on October 27, and will soon be available in other major cities across the country.

The aim is to impart knowledge to entrepreneurs about the challenges and opportunities faced in today’s digital economy, and showcase solutions and services available through MTN Business’s partner ecosystem.

“The Digital Entrepreneur Masterclass is part of MTN Business’ objective of enabling South Africa’s entrepreneurs to harness technology to compete effectively and grow sustainably,” said David Mphelo, general manager of enterprise sales at MTN Business South Africa.

“As a proudly South African company, we have stepped up our initiatives across the board to encourage innovation, build a partner ecosystem that supports local business, and empower entrepreneurs.”

Included in the curriculum of the masterclass will be the findings of the 2016 National Small Business Survey released by the National Small Business Chamber (NSBC), presented by NSBC chief executive officer (CEO) Mike Anderson. This will teach entrepreneurs about security and communications solutions, and provide insights into how to mobilise businesses and bring them online.

Participating entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to view solutions available from MTN Business and technology partners like Samsung, Huawei, Hi-Sense, Lenovo, Sony and Blackberry, as well as the chance to network with industry partners such as NSBC, IDC and National Gazelles.

“In our ongoing partnerships with entrepreneurs, we have found that it is not enough to offer industry-leading digital solutions and services – we need to provide them with tools that will empower them to successfully compete in the market space,” said Mphelo.
