A new digital innovation competition is offering five African startups the chance to pitch at the Africa-France Summit in Bamako, Mali, in January.

Startup Challenge Digital Africa, organised by French Tech Cape Town in collaboration with the Agence Française de Développement and Bpifrance, is open to African and French startups working for development in Africa.

Startups have until November 15 to apply in any one of four categories, namely fintech, health, environment/energy and agriculture. A total of 10 startups will be selected to pitch at the Africa-France Summit on January 13-14 next year: one African and one French startup in each of the four categories, plus another two chosen by online voters.

All winning startups will be invited to present their projects and meet partners at the Africa-France Summit in Bamako.

The African startup winners will also benefit from a EUR30,000 (US$33,000) Customised Acceleration Pack, which includes mentoring, incubation, networking and funding. French winners will gain a EUR10,000 (US$11,000) Support Pack, including a training programme from Bpifrance and a networking trip to the French Tech Abidjan or the French Tech Cape Town hubs.
