Global accelerator Startupbootcamp, which announced recently it is to hold its first African programme in Cape Town, is to hold two FastTrack events to help South Africa startups learn more about the accelerator and meet the team.

Disrupt Africa reported last month Startupbootcamp, which operates 18 accelerator programmes across 13 countries, launched its first Africa-based programme in Cape Town, with the aim of growing disruptive startups and connecting them with dynamic corporates for collaboration and to build the African tech ecosystem.

The launch came after the accelerator partnered with BNP Paribas and PwC, and interested startups now have the opportunity to learn more about the programme at two FastTrack events. The events will take place in Cape Town on May 11 and Johannesburg on May 18.

“Startupbootcamp FastTracks are a great way to meet the Startupbootcamp team and connect directly with a variety of mentors – both entrepreneurs and investors – in a relaxed, interactive and engaging setting,” the organisers said.

The days will include 10 teams in total – five in the morning session and five in the afternoon session – and will include each team giving a short introduction, followed by two hours of feedback from mentors such as RCS chief executive officer (CEO) Regan Adams and Paul Mitchell, fintech lead at PwC.

Startups from around the world can apply now to be part of the first three-month Cape Town programme. Startups from South Africa and Tanzania have been accepted onto Startupbootcamp programmes elsewhere in the past, but like many other global accelerators Startupbootcamp’s interest in Africa is growing.
