Startups from Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa were named the winner of last week’s DEMO Africa event in Johannesburg.

This year’s DEMO Africa took place last week, with 30 startups from across the continent taking part. The event serves as a launchpad for startups from the continent, and saw the startups pitch to a large audience.

Five startups were named winners, or DEMO Lions, namely Kenyan companies M-Post and ZOAme, Morocco’s SOS Santé, Nigeria’s GoSpot, and South Africa’s The Tribe’s Rooster.

Meanwhile, Peachwater’s Power Stove from Nigeria was given a special African Technology Foundation Impact Award.

“We witnessed fresh and exciting innovations at this year’s conference. It was tough choosing our top five but in the end the winners deserve their titles. We wish all of the attending businesses every success with their products,” said DEMO Africa executive producer Harry Hare.
