Visa launches global competition for female entrepreneurs

Visa has opened applications for a global competition for female entrepreneurs in the fintech and social impact spaces that will see winners secure US$100,000 in prize money.

Launched in 2015, the Visa Everywhere has been active in 75 countries and awarded more than 70 leading startups with cash prizes, mentorship and access to Visa’s clients and partners.

The first Visa Everywhere Initiative: Women’s Global Edition shifts the programme from regionally-focused events to a worldwide one centered on fintech and social impact. Its goal is to shine a spotlight on the millions of underrepresented female business leaders and Visa’s commitment to micro and small businesses catalysing change.

Each region will send one winner to the final, which will culminate with a finals event to be held during kick-off of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France on June 7.

To participate, companies with at least one female founder are invited to submit solutions that tackle challenges facing the fintech and social impact landscapes through one of the two briefs.

Visa will provide $100,000 to each challenge winner, along with expert mentorship, access to clients and its vast network of partners. The company will also launch a global marketing campaign “Together as One” to celebrate the Visa Everywhere Initiative: Women’s Global Edition.

Applications are open until April 14, with regional finalists to be selected in May.
