Fifteen startups, including four from Egypt and two from Tunisia, have been chosen by RiseUp to take part in the “Pitch by the Pyramids” event.

The pitch event at the Great Pyramids of Giza takes place on December 8, aligning with RiseUp Summit 2019, with startups selected to take part after regional finals were held in Cairo, Dubai, Tunis, Amman, Ramallah, Beirut and Riyadh.

Six of the finalists are from Egypt, namely payments solution PaySky, energy management IoT system provider Amjaad, laundry pick-up and delivery service Makwa and cloud HR and payroll platform PayNas.

Tunisia is represented by SaaS service for game developers Seemba, and smart solar dryer builder Drysek. The list of finalists also includes two from Jordan, two from Palestine, two from Dubai, two from Lebanon, and one from Saudi Arabia.

The finalists will pitch to a hand-picked audience of over 500 attendees, including local and regional investors, as well as an extensive media presence. Finalist startups are assigned a relevant expert mentor with experience in their industry to support their development throughout the competition.

“Bringing all these startups to the Great Pyramids of Giza has been a dream of ours since we started RiseUp,” said RiseUp chief executive officer (CEO) Abdelhameed Sharara. “The Pitch by the Pyramids programme is not only a MENA-wide pitch competition for early-stage startups, but also a value-driven experience for participating entrepreneurs.”
