Applications have opened for the Waste to Value Accelerator, which aims to support startups working to reduce, reuse and recycle waste in East Africa.

Launched by the Bestseller Foundation, which invests in companies in Africa and India to help them grow and impact the lives of the less privileged, in collaboration with Intellecap, the programme looks to support entrepreneurs and build strong networks for startups and investors in the waste economy across East Africa.

Up to 10 startups will be selected for the programme, through which they will receive business advisory support and mentoring over a period of nine months to strengthen their teams and business performance.

At the end of the programme the startups will have the opportunity to pitch to Bestseller Foundation and other investors for up to US$100,000 in funding, and the chance to gain access to potential strategic partners.

Startups from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania that are offering innovative products or services that involve reusing waste, reusing products, or recycling resources are invited to take part. Applicants should have a well defined financial model, be post-revenue, and be seeking capital.

Applications open here until December 31.
